If you are familiar with Park Slope, you know that this area is somewhat saturated with brunch spots, young families, and beautiful brownstones. A short walk from Grand Army Plaza on Union St. is where you can find the Slope’s champion in Italian grubbery, Scottadito.
My friends and I are always on the hunt for the most delicious, most affordable, closest (in the wintertime), and sometimes booziest brunch in Brooklyn. When we walked into this delightfully rustic restaurant, we knew we hit jackpot in all categories. Our waiter, Arthur, has never led us astray in our many visits. For $19.95, you will be offered a choice of unlimited champagne or mimosas, a comprehensive brunch menu, and your choice of coffee or various teas. Alright, let’s get to the food.
Table favorites came in as follows:
3. An unabashedly sweet Pane Dolce alla Nutella e Banane featuring a classic pairing of caramelized bananas and Nutella on the thickest French toast I’ve ever seen.
2. The Tagliatelle al Brie, Arugula e Speck might as well be called the Truffle Delight. This fresh pasta dish boldly sports a brie and truffle oil cream sauce mingling with smoky prosciutto and peppery arugula.
1. If you believe anything can be better than the preceding picks, try the brunch croissant special. A simply perfect pairing of an in-house created sweet fig marmalade, rich marscapone cheese, and salty prosciutto on a buttery croissant. Trust me, it’s absolutely divine. Over half the table ordered and devoured it!
BrklynHospitality’s Quick and Dirty: 5/5. Scottadito is a crowned jewel in food quality, price, and service. The small touches are certainly not lost here. For both brunch and dinner, my experiences have been nothing short of flawless. This restaurant is perfect for a date, dinner with your parents, or any group occasion/celebration. P.S. be nice to your waiter at dinner service and your table may get free limoncello with the check 🙂
