Are you ready for your afternoon snack? Afternoon snacks are brief updates on restaurants and bars in and outside of Brooklyn. I want to ensure you have the latest and greatest recommendations as I explore these culinary landscapes.
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m not a coffee drinker by any means. So, what am I doing writing up a coffee shop? Well, my boyfriend and I were meandering through Cobble Hill searching for a decently priced bagel to no avail. Then, a Swedish flag caught our eyes. Enter Konditori, which the shop conveniently defined on the wall as a “traditional Swedish meeting place to enjoy friends over great coffee, fine baked goods and confections.” That’s exactly what we did.
We gazed longingly at the food and beverage options, ultimately deciding on a beautifully moist, sweet zucchini muffin, vanilla and chai lattes and a scallion cream cheese bagel. Word to the wise – go early! As it was nearing the afternoon on a busy Saturday, we missed the Swedish confections and specials the shop owners often feature at their five NYC locations. As we learned, these treats are integral to the Swedish coffee experience, or fika, created within Konditori, so we will be coming back.
Brklyn Hospitality’s Quick & Dirty: 3.5/5. We had no clue we would end up here, but it was so refreshing to find a business holding its culture near and dear. Konditori on Smith Street embraces Swedish coffee culture, emanating undeniable charm from the moment you step inside. While it’s busy and bustling in true Brooklyn fashion, it is certainly worth checking out for your next coffee conquest.
